Mission:
Project EDEN
Location: USS Valiant
Timeline: July 26, 2401 || 1230 hours
"When asked, EDEN estimated that we would have exited the nebula within one standard hour. The actual time that it had taken was fifty-nine minutes and seven seconds. Had our crew roster been at full compliment, I have no doubt that the Valiant would have escaped at least ten minutes sooner. For all of Mariwat's meddling, I can say without hesitation that EDEN's ability to evaluate all factors and provide an accurate estimate is both astounding and horrifying.
"It would not serve well to ignore the contributions of our senior staff during the crisis. Lieutenant Arai was quick to notice the specific effects the ion storm had on our internal circuitry and ODN network. Both Commander MacArthur and Commander Tusalo were able to recover the sensors and track a path out of the storm. Many crew members owe their lives to Commander Corwin and her SAR training. And, of course, Commander T'Zara for pulling the truth of our situation out of Commander Mariwat.
"We are undergoing necessary field repairs at a safe distance from the storm. Starfleet is sending a vessel to pick up Commander Mariwat, where he will be taken to the nearest starbase and held for court martial. Mariwat's misguided actions resulted in the death of one crew member and gravely injured ten others. Once we are done with our trials, we will join Mariwat at the starbase and participate, as I'm sure the court martial will be reliant on our testimony.
"The danger is behind us, at least for now. I had not expected my first mission as Captain to be quite so... strenuous. But I can't help but feel that this is just the beginning of something new on the horizon. Whether this dawn brings beauty or brashness, I cannot tell. I suppose we will soon find out."
