| General Overview | Piraa cannot help but to treat everything as a competition, even though she hates to compete. She heeds no caution with her words, and will not hesitate to share her opinion. Piraa understands the value of team work, recognition, and cooperation, so she will always look at a situation for a moment, engineer a strategy, and deploy the team around her to collectively accomplish the objective. She wants to be the best, whether it’s an engineer or a commander — and her actions and words reflect that. Piraa does, however, know when to cut her losses and move on, but only after it’s clear that she cannot win. | |

| Personal History | Piraa’s birth, like so many Andorians in the 2360s, was considered a medical miracle. At the time, the Andorian population (the planet, not the species) had shrunk from 3 billion to 400 million in a century. War and disease were not the primary contributors, but rather the ability for the four-gendered species to produce offspring. Piraa, therefore, spent much of her childhood and teenage years being prepared for her role as a shen, producing the zygote that would perpetuate the Andorian species. For years she was treated like royalty. Until she could not produce a healthy zygote. Piraa intentionally never kept count of the failures, and because of that, she will never admit how many attempts it took before she and the best doctors determined that Piraa was indeed genetically disposed to never reproduce. Resigned to a childless life, Piraa divorced her young bond group and joined Starfleet. She always had a love for tinkering and found a new home and life as an engineer. Her perchance for engineering and analytical methods for problem solving granted her promotions to head of engineering departments. Piraa's talents were also recognized by multiple Commanding Officers and convinced her that she could have an excellent career in Command. Piraa was reluctant at first, but soon found that life in the red uniform was well suited for her. The ultimate test of her career came in 2401 during Frontier Day. She was serving as XO aboard the USS Zantra, a Duderstadt-class, when it and more than 300 other vessels were hijaacked by the Borg. She was caught off guard as her captain fell to the assimilated young, and managed to escape the bridge to form a resistance with other unassimilated crew members. Piraa had just taken over the Zantra’s engineering and preparing to detonate the warp core when the Borg fell silent and the assimilated crew members returned to normal. Piraa and the rest of the Zantra’s crew found themselves reassigned when the ship was put in for repair. A lack of Commanding Officers meant that Piraa was quickly promoted to Captain and given the USS Valiant, a refitted Duderstadt that would serve as a testbed for Project EDEN. |
